By Spencer . January 19, 2009 . 7:40am

This spring mutant fish are washing up on the Nintendo DS, but Umihara Kawase has nothing to fear. She’s ready to stuff them in her backpack after catching them with her elastic fishing line. Someone is bringing the Umihara Kawase series to the Nintendo DS, but it’s not Marvelous! Genterprise, the parent company of Sting, […]

Natsume snags rights to Umihara Kawase Portable

By Spencer . July 14, 2008 . 11:23pm

This year Natsume has a more diverse E3 lineup with games that have nothing to do with Harvest Moon. In addition to Princess Debut, Natsume is preparing two more Marvelous projects for localization: Hamtaro DS and Yumi’s Odd Odyssey. Getting my feet wet with Umihara Kawase Portable

Well, the short story is it’s a platformer set in a […]

Platforming and flying fish collide on the PSP in Umihara Kawase

By Spencer . December 14, 2007 . 3:09pm

Out of the blue, Marvelous is reviving the odd Umihara Kawase franchise with a new PSP game next year. I remember playing Umihara Kawase on the Super Famicom and it handles like Bionic Commando in fish land. You jump around, swing from an elastic fishing line and catch fish. Umihara Kawase sounds unusual because it […]
