Update: Sony’s head of worldwide studios Shuhei Yoshida tells Kotaku that Tretton’s commments are misleading, and that the game is still in active development.

The Last Guardian is on hiatus, but hasn’t “gone away,” Sony Computer Entertainment America CEO Jack Tretton shared with GameTrailers today (via: Polygon).

“I think the cool thing about our worldwide development studios is we have so many projects out there from so many great teams,” he said. “Projects never ultimately go away, so The Last Guardian has certainly not gone away, but it’s on hiatus right now.”

The Last Guardian was being developed by Sony’s Team Ico, the developer behind Ico and Shadow of the Colossus.
