While we don’t have the full list of launch titles yet, Sony plan to launch the PlayStation Vita with 26 games in Japan. The device will launch in a Crystal Black colour in limited editions and regular editions.
Included in the Vita box in Japan will be a Vita system, a USB cable, an AC adapter, a power cord, and a SIM card for the 3G versions of the device. The limited editions will come with a Docomo UIM card with the initial contract handling fee of 2,100 yen and either the 20-hour or 100-hour plan installed. It sounds like you’ll have to buy a memory card separately.
The 20-hour 3G plan costs 980 yen (close to $13), while a 100-hour pre-paid plan will cost 4,980 yen (about $65) Here’s the slightly confusing pricing structure for the different Vita packages:
Vita 3G/Wi-Fi Model Crystal Black initial limited edition – 29,980 yen
(comes with pre-paid 100-hour plan)
Vita 3G/Wi-Fi Model Crystal Black limited edition – 29,980 yen
(comes with pre-paid 20-hour plan)
Vita Wi-Fi Model Crystal Black – 24,980 yen
The price of the 3G model is 29,980 yen, period, so the limited editions sound like you’ll get either 100 or 20 hours of 3G service for free, depending on how soon you buy the device. Sony are partnering with NTT Docomo in Japan for the 3G service.
