The Honkai: Star Rail Version Special Program stream included the run-down on upcoming events for the game in Version 1.6. These additions include Simulated Universe: Gold and Gears, which adds new challenges and rewards to the game’s roguelike mode, as well as the Critter Pick event that will allow players to collect and experiment on biological pets.
Here’s a summary of the events shown in the program:
- Simulated Universe: Gold and Gears – This event expands on Honkai: Star Rail‘s Simulated Universe rogue-like mode, adding the path of Erudition to the choosable schools of blessings. It also introduces a new mechanic involving dice, allowing players to equip faces to their dice which grant powerful effects The Intra-cognition board will also be added, which appears to allow players to track and record various storylines and paths through the Simulated Universe.
- Critter Pick – This scavenger event will involved hunting and capturing little creatures that can then be nurtured and have their DNA combined to create new breeds with different appearances, including mutants and rare strains. Most importantly though, this event will apparently allow players to take on the form of Asta’s dog Peppy and solve puzzles around the space station.
- Virtual Scentventure – This combat event will see players fighting illusionary enemies conjured by ‘scent triggers’, These illusionary foes have special mechanics, and take the form of characters like Kafka, Bronya, and Yanqing. To counteract these mechanics, players will be able to equip scent plug-ins to provide bonuses like follow-up attack damage, boosted ultimates, and energy regeneration.
- Planar Fissure and Realm of the Strange – These returning events simply grant double awards when farming relics in the Simulated Universe and Caverns of Corrosion respectively.
- Pure Fiction – This appears to be an end-game challenge similar to Memory of Chaos, and involves fighting respawning enemies with the goal of defeating or damaging as many as possible in a set number of turns. The Pure Fiction event will involve it’s own set of buffs and upgrades, and will reward players with a Stellar Jades and the 4* Quantum Abundance character Lynx.
- Memory of Chaos – This challenge mode will also see the addition of stages 11 and 12, as well as adding self-modeling resin to the activity shop. The Memory of Chaos and Pure Fiction events will also be updated on an alternating schedule with one of the two events being updated every two weeks. Additionally, players will have an extra 4 weeks to challenge each Memory of Chaos phase, going from 2 weeks to 6. The Forgotten Hall will also gain an auto-clear function, allowing players who clear advanced stages to skip previous ones and still receive the rewards.
- Gift of Odyssey – This is a simple login event that will reward players with free pull tickets each day, up to a total of 10.
Note that not all of these events will be available immediately upon release of Version 1.6. When HoYoverse reveals individual dates for these events, it will likely be on the official website.

Other events recently returned to Honkai: Star Rail include Garden of Plenty, which began on December 15, 2023, and is set to end on December 22, 2023. This event grants a bonus to rewards earned from the grindable Calyx missions, including for experience and trace materials. HoYoverse has also released an early look at upcoming characters Misha and Sparkle, who will likely arrive with Version 2.0.
Honkai: Star Rail is immediately available on PC, PS5, and mobile devices. The 1.6 update is scheduled to launch on December 27, 2023.
