Village in the Shade worldwide will get a worldwide launch update that adds a protagonist birthday event for the player character and plumbing fixture furniture that lets you create a bathroom in your house. There will also be a new, upgradeable Seeder tool to buy to make it easier to sow seeds and distribute furniture. The Japanese versions of the game get it on October 27, 2026, and it will be present for the worldwide versions via patch on launch day.
The protagonist birthday event in Village in the Shade will show up for the player character’s avatar in the second year regardless of which mode you choose. However, when it happens varies due to the nature of the standard and horror-free Sunshine Mode campaign. If you play it as-is, you need to beat the main scenario before characters start celebrating your birthday. If you chose the lighter mode, then you need to wait for Nago to move in. If you do, then people will wish you happy birthday and give a gift if the relationship is at level three or higher.
As for the furniture that lets you create a bathroom in your house in Village in the Shade, the Plumbing Fixture Series unlocks after getting a Fox Hunting Permit. The General Store will sell these items. A photo appeared showing them, and there’s a full list of what will be available to place.
Here’s what we’ll be able to get when that unlocks:
- Bath Bucket
- Bath Stool
- Bathroom Sink
- Bathtub
- Partition
- Partition Curtain
- Shower
- Toilet
- Toilet Paper Holder
- Wall Towel
And here’s how a bathroom area could look:
While this update will be free, paid Village in the Shade DLC is also on the way. The official roadmap introduced that already. That will launch in 2027 and feature more events, mechanics, and locations.
Village in the Shade will come to the Switch, Switch 2, PS5, and PC on October 27, 2026, the same day the launch day free update patch with a protagonist birthday event for the player character and plumbing fixture bathroom furniture will appear.
