Even if you’re into visual novels, you may not have heard of True Remembrance. It was a free visual novel released for the PC in 2004 by Shiba Satomi, and translated into English by a fan group called Insani.
You play as Blackiris, a specialized doctor in a futuristic setting, where a pandemic depression called “The Dolor” is going around. Blackiris is one of many doctors, called Mnemonicides, who treat patients with The Dolor. The game takes place in The City, a town cut off from the outside world. Throughout the game, you treat a girl named La, who suffers from The Dolor.
In a very pleasant twist, True Remembrance is being released on the Nintendo eShop in Japan on February 22nd by Arc System Works. They’re charging 500 yen (a little over $6) for the game.
Food for thought:
Before anyone goes crazy at the prospect of big-name visual novels being released on the eShop, True Remembrance is a rather short indie game. That having been said, it would certainly be nice to see other similar titles given eShop releases.
