Last week, Japan had several key releases with Valkyria Chronicles 4, Ni no Kuni II, Detective Pikachu, Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition, PriPara: All Idol Perfect Stage!, and more. Japanese sales tracker Media Create released the latest video game software and hardware sales data from the week of March 19 through March 25, 2018.


The #1 spot of the week goes to Kirby: Star Allies for a second week straight with 84,625 units sold on the Nintendo Switch. #2 of the week is the first new title in Valkyria Chronicles with 62,921 units sold on PS4. The previous game Valkyria Revolution debuted with 56,416 units (38,197 on PS4 and 18,219 on PSV) in its debut. Before that we Valkyria Chronicles Remastered with 24,156 units sold on PS4 in its Japanese debut. However, that’s a spinoff and remaster, the previous main entry in Valkyria Chronicles 3 sold 102,779 units in its debut in 2011 on the PSP during its height.


Next up, we have Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom at #3 with 56,014 units. The previous game Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch opened with 67,032 units on PS3, and the Nintendo DS version of Ni no Kuni started with 170,548 units sold in its first week.


At #4 we have the retail version of Detective Pikachu fr 3DS with 42,013 units sold in its debut. Following at #5 is Splatoon 2 with 29,089 units sold on Switch. At #6 it is Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition’s debut with 24,908 copies sold on Switch.



As far as other new titles go, PriPara: All Idol Perfect Stage! debuted at #9 with 12,426 units sold on Switch. Ikemen Sengoku: Toki o Kakeru Koi – Arata naru Deai at #16 with 6,749 units sold on PS Vita, and lastly Assassin’s Creed Rogue Remastered at #20 with 3,800 units sold on PS4.


In hardware sales, the PS4 sol 15,458 units and the PS4 Pro sold 8,398 for a combined total of 23,856 units sold between the two Sony consoles. The Nintendo Switch was by far the best-selling console of the week again at 50,412 units sold, which is a bit lower than the previous week but still holds about 56.5% of all hardware sales in the week. Going by Media Create’s data, the Nintendo Switch has now sold 3,951,471 units since its launch in March 3, 2017.
