Last week, Japan saw several new releases with 10 of their top 20 making their debuts, including some big titles such as Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns, Caligula, Minecraft: Wii U Edition, and more. Here’s a look at Media Create’s weekly video game sales data for software and hardware that sold from the week of June 20 through June 26, 2016.

Top of the list is Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns at #1, showing that Marvelous’ farming simulation series is ever so popular in Japan with 100,319 copies sold in its debut. While it may not have sold as much as its predecessor in Story of Seasons, which sold 130,782 copies at launch in its 2014 debut, it stilled topped the title before that in Harvest Moon: A New Beginning that saw 81,131 copies sold at launch in 2012.

Caligula placed #2 at 31,243. While this might not be a homerun compared to numbers we’ve seen from bigger titles, those are pretty impressive numbers for any game published by FuRyu. Below is a look at their track record of notable RPGs published by the company in the past five years:

  • (2011) Unchained Blades [PSP] – 18,256
  • (2011) Unchained Blades [3DS] – 5,592
  • (2011) Tsuku Monogatari [PSP] – 13,329
  • (2012) Unchained Blades Exxiv [PSP] – 6,793
  • (2012) Unchained Blades Exxiv [3DS] – 6,645
  • (2014) Lost Dimension [PSV] – 3,868
  • (2015) The Legend of Legacy [3DS] 53,974

While it might not been more than their 2015 homerun in The Legend of Legacy that stil remainsl their best-selling title to date, it’s much better in terms of sales than all of their previous titles before that, marking it their second best hit.

Moving on, we have Minecraft: Wii U Edition at #3 with 22,589. Those of you that have kept up with the weekly sales know how well Minecraft: PlayStation Vita Edition has stuck around, so it’ll be interesting to see how the Wii U version performs in the long run.

As far as other new titles go, we have Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympics Games at #4 with 18,276 units sold in its debut, Nippon Ichi dungeon crawler Coven and Labyrinth of Refrain at #5 with 17,573 copies sold in its debut, Umbrella Corps at #8 on PS4 with just 9,095 copies sold at launch, Dramatic Create’s visual novel Koezaru wa Akai Hana: Koi ha Tsuki ni Michibikareru at #18 with 3,785 copies at launch, and Telltale Games’ The Walking Dead at #20 with 3,184 copies sold.

Hardware sales were give or take about the same as the week prior, without any notable changes for the most part.
