Hello, Mr. Tiger. Why so glum? You’d better put a smile on that face before someone takes a picture of it. No? Okay, then no one’s going to like your zoo.
…that wasn’t entirely a joke. Zoo Mania, which Ubisoft finally confirmed today is, indeed, the localized name for Marvelous Entertainment’s Animal Resort, lets you take pictures of the animals in your zoo. You can control your in-game camera by moving the Nintendo 3DS around. If you do this while they’re in high spirits, your photos come out better. The better they are, the more positive feedback your zoo will receive.
That’s just one part of the game, though. Zoo Mania is a management game. After inheriting the zoo from your grandfather, you start out with a lone elephant, and it’s up to you to build the place up into something more grand. Screenshots below show that you can expand the scope and size of your zoo as well.
You do this by caring properly for your animals. You’ll trade in Animal Points, acquired by taking good snaps, for feed and items. Keeping animals happy will keep visitors happy as well. There’s over 100 animals in the game.
Ubisoft have Zoo Mania slated for release sometime in June. While you wait, you can watch a video of monkeys knocking out a cameraman.
