This Week In Sales: Koei Reach For The Stars

Recommended Videos

Koei have reason to be happy, with Fist of the North Star Musou debuting at even higher numbers than Yakuza 4’s stellar opening week. Between the game’s fantastic sales and the overseas publishing deal with Nintendo for Samurai Warriors 3, things are beginning to look up for Koei, who — collectively with Tecmo — posted at $20.4 million loss in their last quarter.

Meanwhile, every Nintendo-published game in the top-ten actually increased in sales from the previous week, due to the start of the Spring vacation. It should be interesting to see what effect Golden Week has on them during May. And coming in at #6, God of War III did relatively well for a western game centred around blood and guts.

The top-ten for the week of March 22nd – 28th is as presented below. Supplementary numbers follow, although, we ask readers to keep in mind that numbers outside the top-ten are sourced from a different sales tracker.

Making their debuts outside of the top-ten were Chaos; Head – Love Chu Chu! for the Xbox 360 at #13, and Prinny: Can I Really Be The Hero? 2 at #24. Silent Hill: Shattered Memories also released the same week, across the Wii, PS2 and PSP, although, the PSP version was the only one to appear on the charts at all at #41.

And finally, God Eater continues to hold steady with another 14,000 purchases under its belt. With Golden Week coming up in a few weeks, the game stands a good chance of maintaining its numbers until Monster Hunter Portable 3rd hits.
