Top-seller: Akiba’s Trip – 58,150

Nintendo 3DS sales: 17,240 | Total sales: 1,013,259

The week of May 16th – 22nd saw the Nintendo 3DS finally cross the 1 million mark. Weekly sales remained slow at 17,240 units, however, owing to the as yet unchanged lack of popular software to persuade consumers to invest in the system.

Software-wise, Akiba’s Trip occupied the top spot in the software sales chart, with 58,150 copies sold. That’s 58,150 people learning to protect Akihabara against a potential vampire threat…and learning to perform continuous strip combos.

At #2 was Dead or Alive: Dimensions for the Nintendo 3DS. The Team Ninja game sold 23,078 copies in its first week on store shelves. For comparison, Dead or Alive 4 for the Xbox 360 debuted at 44,853 copies at the end of 2005. It launched a month after the release of the Xbox 360 in Japan, and was an anticipated game for the system.

Following at #4 was Gungnir, while Portal 2 also charted at #6 (PS3) and #20 (360). The full top-20 chart for the week is as follows:
