This Week In Sales: Fate/Extra Masters The #2 Spot

Recommended Videos

Fate/Extra wasn’t a huge breakout hit, but it didn’t do terribly either. The Imageepoch-developed RPG based on Type-Moon’s popular franchise debuted at the #2 spot in last week’s sales rankings.

While Extra couldn’t crash Nintendo’s Wii Party — going strong at #1 in its third week at retail — the 72,000 units it moved is very respectable, especially for Marvelous Entertainment. For comparison, just two weeks prior, MMV published Harvest Moon: Twins’ Village — one of their better known franchises — which debuted at 63,610 units.

The only other new release to debut in the top-ten for the week of July 19th – 25th was Katekyoo Hitman Reborn! DS Flame Rumble XX. Rankings were as follows:

Lw Tw Title Tw. Sales Sys. Publisher
04. 01. Wii Party 98,564 Wii Nintendo
New 02. Fate/Extra 72,170 PSP Marvelous
07. 03. Inazuma Eleven 3: Challenge the World! Spark / Bomber 44,451 DS Level 5
01. 04. Fire Emblem: New Mystery of the Emblem – Hero of Light and Shadow 39,459 DS Nintendo
02. 05. Dragon Quest Monsters: Battle Road Victory 35,795 Wii Square Enix
06. 06. PowerPros Baseball 2010 29,184 PSP Konami
03. 07. PowerPros Baseball 2010 28,258 PS3 Konami
11. 08. Super Mario Galaxy 2 21,313 Wii Nintendo
05. 09. Last Ranker 20,741 PSP Capcom
New 10. Katekyoo Hitman Reborn! DS Flame Rumble XX – Kessen! Shin 6 Chouka 19,540 DS Takara Tomy

Amidst last week’s notable underperformers were poor Lost in Shadow on Wii (#39) and Densha de Go! Tokubetsu-hen: Fukkatsu Shouwa no Yamatesen on DS (#30). Blur, published by Square Enix in Japan, debuted at the very bottom, at #50.

Not much luckier was Class of Heroes 2G (PS3), which debuted at #23 despite receiving a price-drop even before release. Then again, 2G is a port of a PSP game.
