Founded in March 1981, Nihon Falcom has been developing games since the 8-bit computer era. Its first-ever title, Galactic Wars, released for PC-8801 in 1982. The company became more well-known after releasing Dragon Slayer, the precursor to the Xanadu and The Legend of Heroes series, in 1984 and the first Ys game in 1987.

Falcom’s latest game, The Legend of Heroes: Hajimari no Kiseki, released for PlayStation 4 in Japan on August 27, 2020. While Falcom handles the initial releasing of its games, ports to other platforms and overseas localizations are handled by partner companies like NIS America and Clouded Leopard. The latter is currently working to bring Hajimari no Kiseki to Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam by Summer 2021.

The next title in The Legend of Heroes series, Kuro no Kiseki, was initially revealed in December 2020. Although the reveal showed a few screenshots and characters designed by Katsumi Enami, barely any details on character biographies have been divulged. The upcoming stream will unveil more information on the characters, including the protagonist and heroine of the game’s story.

The Legend of Heroes: Kuro no Kiseki is slated for release in 2021. Nihon Falcom has yet to announce a platform for the new RPG.
