Bloodborne Senior Producer Kentaro Motomura Leaves SIE Japan

Kentaro Motomura has announced that he has parted ways with SIE Japan Studios through Twitter. He is the latest in a series of departures from the studio, following Bloodborne executive producer Masami Yamamoto’s announcement back in March. Motomura had not hinted at leaving the studio prior to the announcement but said in his tweet that March 31, 2021 is his last day at the company. [Thanks, Ryokutya837!]

In the announcement tweet, Motomura expressed gratitude for being able to work on numerous titles throughout the years. Previously, Motomura worked as producer for Bloodborne, Soul Sacrifice, and 2017’s Everybody’s Golf. He worked as a producer at Sony for nearly two decades. Additionally, Motomura stated that he will continue to work in video game production after his departure from SIE Japan Studios.

The announcement comes one day before SIE Japan Studio’s official reorganization, which will center the company around Team ASOBI.

Many of Motomura’s colleagues, most of whom worked on the same titles, have also announced departures in the past few months. Masaaki Yamagiwa, who worked with Motomura as producer on FromSoftware’s VR adventure game Déraciné, left the company at the end of February. Back in December 2020, Silent Hill‘s Keiichiro Toyama also left to create his own studio, which Motomura congratulated him on via twitter.

Bloodborne and the Bloodborne: Old Hunters DLC are immediately available on PlayStation 4.
