While this marks Saber’s first-ever appearance in the Melty Blood series, the famous character had also joined rosters of prior fighting games. The Fate series had its own 3D fighting game titled Fate/unlimited codes in 2008. The Fate/Zero version of Saber also appeared in the 2015 crossover fighting game, Nitroplus Blasterz: Heroines Infinite Duel.

The inclusion of Saber in Melty Blood also completes the crossover between Fate and Tsukihime in their respective games. As a refresher, Arcueid Brunestud also appeared as one of the enemy servants in the 2010 PSP game Fate/Extra.

Saber is the latest character revealed for the newest Melty Blood game. Type-Moon previously announced Red Arcueid as a playable character available separately from the original one. It also added Noel and Vlov Arkhangel, two new characters who debuted in the Tsukihime remake.

Melty Blood: Type Lumina will be available worldwide on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC on September 30, 2021. In most cases, the game’s digital editions will unlock at midnight in local time. However, the PC version on Steam will have a unified unlock time at midnight PDT.
