EDF Returns With Earth Defense Force 6.2 in 2027

D3 Publisher has revealed Earth Defense Force 6.2: Invaders From Another World. The company will release it for PlayStation 5 in 2027.

This new game will basically feature drastic enhancements over the original Earth Defense Force 6, which was first released in Japan in 2022 and in the West in 2024. Although the basic story flow will be the same as the original game, more than half of the missions in this game are being renewed. 6.2 will also have additions of more missions, and the number of enemies appearing in this version will be around double the original.

6.2 will also feature a new weapon customization system. Players will be able to add effects to bullets on a weapon type, such as a Burning element on an assault rifle or a Freezing element on a rocket launcher.

D3 Publisher has also published an official reveal trailer for Earth Defense Force 6.2 on its YouTube channel:

Earth Defense Force 6.2: Invaders From Another World will be available for PlayStation 5 in 2027. D3 Publisher will also bring a playable demo build of the revamped game at Tokyo Game Show 2026, which will take place at Makuhari Messe on September 17-21, 2026.
