We already knew some information regarding how Boothill will play, thanks to the Honkai: Star Rail Version 2.2 special program. Boothill will want to have lots of Break Effect, as his Ghost Load Trace can increase his Crit Rate and Crit DMG. Like Blade and Jingliu, he has a stance-based fighting style. After he uses his Skill Sizzlin’ Tango, he and a target enemy enter the Standoff state. In this state, he uses an Enhanced Basic ATK that does not recover SP. The target can only attack Boothill, and both Boothill and the enemy will receive more DMG. When he defeats an enemy or Weakness Breaks them, he gains a stack of Pocket Trickshot.

As for his Ultimate gameplay in Honkai: Star Rail, it applies Physical Weakness for a number of turns to a single target, deals Physical DMG, and then delays the enemy’s action. The Pocket Trickshot stack is also useful for his Five Peas in a Pod Talent. Each stack increases how much Toughness he reduces with an Enhanced Basic ATK. It can also add onto how much Break DMG Boothill deals when he attacks a Weakness Broken enemy with his Enhanced Basic ATK. We can see from his kit information that Boothill will really benefit from Break Effect. As for support characters, he’ll likely pair well with Harmony Trailblazer, Ruan Mei, and Robin.
