Shueisha announced via the official social media account for Kagurabachi that its manga series is taking a brief hiatus due to the sudden illness and hospitalization of the author, Takeru Hokazono. The hiatus will last for two weeks.
The company noted that it originally intended to include Kagurabachi in the 2026 42nd-and-43rd double issue of Weekly Shonen Jump on September 14, 2026. However, it called off the plan due to Hokazono’s sudden illness. Shueisha added that the author has since recovered, and they are working together to publish the new chapter two weeks later.
Hokazono had more recently taken a lengthy Kagurabachi hiatus for around a month, from June 29, 2026 to July 27, 2026. The author noted that he wanted to take enough rest to maintain the manga series’ publication pace.
The popularity of the manga series has led Takeru Hokazono to join Forbes Japan’s 30 Under 30 list in August 2026. Kagurabachi is also set to have an anime adaptation that will launch in April 2027 on Japanese television channels and internationally via the streaming platform Crunchyroll.
The next new chapter of the Kagurabachi manga will appear in the 2026 44th issue of Weekly Shonen Jump on September 28, 2026.
