King of Fighters R-2 Switch

King of Fighters R-2 and Samurai Shodown! 2 Switch Launch August 7, 2020

The next NeoGeo Pocket Color Selection games have release dates. SNK announced the Samurai Shodown! 2 and King of Fighters R-2 Switch ports will both arrive on August 7, 2020. As confirmed during New Game+ Expo 2020, each one will cost $7.99. This will mark the first time Samurai Shodown! 2 will be sold separately, as it originally was a Samurai Shodown pre-order bonus.

Both Samurai Shodown! 2 and King of Fighters R-2 Switch will feature the same sorts of supplemental features as SNK Gals’ Fighters, the previous NeoGeo Pocket Color Selection worldwide release. This means you can have the game appear on a (working) virtual Neo Geo Pocket Color on-screen, you can change the design of that virtual handheld, there are different display options, and both handheld and tabletop versus modes will be available.

This is what Samurai Shodown! 2 Switch looks like.

Here’s how King of Fighters R-2 Switch looks.

While no other NeoGeo Pocket Color Selection games have been announced yet, SNK Director of Business Development Adam Laatz did mention being a fan of Metal Slug when asked about other ports potentially being considered.

Samurai Shodown! 2 and King of Fighters R-2 will be available on the Nintendo Switch eShop on August 7, 2020. SNK Gals’ Fighters is immediately available.
