The Mario Kart Tour New Year’s celebration is upon us. This means a tour specifically designed to celebrate 2020. The Tokyo Blur track will be decked out with decorations like kadomatsus, four new Driver alts will appear, and a number of new karts and gliders will be added on January 1, 2020. This tour will then end on January 14th.

Four new drivers were shown off in the Mario Kart Tour New Year’s Tour teaser. Mario is wearing his Happi headband and outfit from Super Mario Odyssey. (These are both traditional festival attire.) Toad is wearing a comical outfit with party hat, bowtie, and a mask that he’ll hold over his face during jumps that resembles Mario’s nose and mustache. In addition to these tour-specific characters, a Freerunning Gold Koopa, with a gold hat instead of a red one, and a Red Yoshi will be joining the roster.

This is the fourth round of festive characters joining Mario Kart Tour. We already had Santa Mario, Santa Daisy, Pauline in a party dress, and Yoshi as a reindeer. The tours where these characters appeared also altered the appearance of existing tracks, for example adding Christmas decorations to the New York Minute course.

Mario Kart Tour is available for Android and Apple iOS devices.
