MiHoYo Details Honkai Impact and Genshin Impact Crossover Characters

Worlds are about to collide: miHoYo, the developer of Honkai Impact 3rd and Genshin Impact is preparing a crossover event that will see Genshin characters join Honkai‘s playable roster. Such a feat is more challenging than it seems, and the studio has released a short documentary video detailing their adaptation process for the Honkai Impact 3rd X Genshin Impact crossover. The video was uploaded to the official Honkai Impact 3rd Youtube channel and has English subtitles available.

The Honkai Impact 3rd X Genshin Impact crossover forms the core of Honkai‘s upcoming v4.9 content update. It will see two Genshin characters crossing the dimensional barrier: Fischl and Keqing. Fischl will join the permanent playable roster, while Keqing will be playable during the event as a “Trial” character. The crossover update preview video details the challenges and work miHoYo’s teams put in for the collaboration.

As a “dream crossover” and the “first real Archer” in Honkai Impact 3rd, Fischl seems built for a supporting role in parties. But with skill, players can use her as a core “Carry”-style combatant. With her bow, she can  target enemy weak points for increased damage and feedback. Fischl’s attacks will be supplemented by her crow familiar, Oz. When Oz is summoned onto the field, Fischl’s attack rate is boosted. Fischl’s ultimate attack also differs from her Genshin Impact Elemental Burst. Whereas in Genshin Fischl and Oz merge and can move quickly on the field, Fischl’s ultimate in Honkai saturates the area with a rain of electric arrows shots. Aesthetically, miHoYo needed to adjust Fischl’s character model and appearance to account for differences in the way Genshin and Honkai display characters. Thus Honkai‘s Fischl has body proportions in line with a similarly-sized character, Seele. Seele is also the star of the current v4.8 update, Phantom of the Theater.

As for Keqing, she will only be playable during the crossover event and in certain story stages. However, the developers emphasized that despite not being obtainable permanently, Keqing meets the same standards as permanent characters in terms of playability. Keqing’s attacks utilize her agile movement and ability to close the distance quickly. She can also send out waves of force from her blade to attack enemies at a distance.

The Honkai Impact 3rd X Genshin Impact crossover event will kick off alongside the v4.9 update. That update is scheduled for June 10, 2021 in China, with no exact date confirmed for global editions. Honkai Impact is available on iOS, Android, and PC. Genshin Impact is available on iOS, Android, PC, PS4, and PS5.
