Recently, Nintendo 3DS sales in Japan surpassed 15 million. The device achieved this figure in its 154th week since release.

Japanese sales tracker Media Create report that this means the Nintendo 3DS is selling faster than the Game Boy Advance in Japan. The Game Boy Advance had sold around 11.64 million units by its 154th week, which puts 3DS significantly ahead.

Naturally, 3DS sales don’t hold up as well when compared to those of the Nintendo DS. The DS had sold around 20.16 million units by its 154th week in the Japanese market.

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata recently stated that Nintendo 3DS would be the company’s main profit-driver for the next year, and that Nintendo will release
“many key titles” for the device this year.
