Square Enix Reveals Final Fantasy XVI’s Gone Gold

It seems Final Fantasy XVI will meet its expected launch windows, as Square Enix turned to the English and Japanese Twitter accounts to report the game has gone gold. This means that, for all purposes, the team is done, it is playable, and it is ready to ship.

Here is the official announcement, which features developers holding the Torgal plush of Clive’s dog as both a puppy and adult. The same stuffed animals appeared at the PAX East 2023 panel. However, Square Enix hasn’t said it if will eventually sell them.

Now that the game’s launch is imminent, Square Enix started talking a lot more about the title. There was a panel at PAX East that introduced it and showed more gameplay footage. The team mentioned there will be a demo. That will apparently appear two weeks ahead of launch. There were also videos showing how Torgal acts when being used to find points of interest or assists Clive in battle.

Final Fantasy XVI will come to the PS5 on June 22, 2023. There will be a six-month exclusivity period.
