Period: The week of Jul 4th – Jul 10th (2011)
Top-seller: L.A. Noire – 58,436
Nintendo 3DS sales: 22,943 | Total sales: 1,211,278
The three best-selling games in Japan last week were all developed overseas. Team Bondi’s L.A. Noire made the top spot, coming in at 58,436 copies sold, and Infamous 2 followed at the #2 spot with 33,474 copies. It should be noted once again that GoldenEye 007, too, performed relatively well upon its release the week prior.
In the #3 and #4 spots were the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon respectively. While the game is published by D3 Publisher in Japan, it’s been developed by Vicious Cycle Software in North Carolina.
Meanwhile, The Little Battlers and Ocarina of Time 3D hung on in the top-ten for another week, along with Steins;Gate on the PSP, which is nearly at 100,000 units (5pb must be singing with joy). Tales of the Abyss, however, took a dip from its release the week prior. Abyss went from its 74,000 debut to barely over 10,000 units sold last week.
