This Week In Sales: Red Dead Redemption Beats A Whole Lot Of Local Games

Recommended Videos

The week of October 4th – 10th. Pokémon Black/White maintain their clear lead over every other game in the race. But wait! What’s this? An impressive performance by Red Dead Redemption on PS3 at #4, coming in at 70,599 units?! That isn’t too far from Dead Rising 2’s debut on PS3 last week.

Combined with sales of the Xbox 360 version, that brings Red Dead’s total up to over 96,000 units.

That’s the big sales story of the day, aside from Kingdom Hearts re:Coded, which moved 95,505 units in its first week. That’s a fairly low figure compared to opening sales of Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, which debuted at nearly 300,000 units. Unlike 358/2, however, re:Coded isn’t an original title — it’s a remake of a mobile phone game, which Japanese Kingdom Hearts fans have likely already played.

Meanwhile, Class of Heroes 3 moved 30,000 units on PSP and about half that on PS3. The other interesting release was by Rocket Company, who publish the Medabots games in Japan. This week, they released Tenkaichi Sengoku Lovers, an otome game for DS, which charted at #15 with 9.5k units.
