PlayStation Vita sales: 17,141 | Total sales: 552,564

Namco Bandai may want to rethink the old Soulcalibur tagline, at least in Japan. Soulcalibur V was released in the region last week, and sold just 43,500 copies on PlayStation 3 and another 7,500 on Xbox 360.

In comparison, Soulcalibur IV sold 74,607 copies on PlayStation and 34,786 copies on Xbox 360 in its opening week in 2008. A sorry state of affairs for the franchise.

Soulcalibur V only debuted at the #2 spot on the top-20 chart. The #1 spot was stolen by Resident Evil: Revelations, almost at 200,000 copies sold in its second week on the market. Meanwhile, Tales of Innnocence R on the PlayStation Vita dropped all the way from #3 to #14, with 63,250 copies sold so far.

Speaking of the Vita, this week’s new Vita release was Ragnarok Odyssey, selling 33,500 copies in its first week.
