<< How to read and understand sales

The week after New Year’s was—again—relatively slow in terms of software sales. Yo-kai Watch 2: Headliner led the charge for another week in a row, selling 208,000 copies, bringing total sales to 2.24 million.

PlayStation platforms traditionally see a slight boost in sales the week after New Year’s day, and the Vita and PS4 did indeed see an increase from the week prior, but unfortunately, the same couldn’t be said for software sales on either platform.

Going down the list, you’ll find the usual suspects occupying most of the top-20—Pokémon, Monster Hunter, Super Smash Bros., Gundam Breaker, Mario Kart and so on. No new games were released that week either.

You can expect to see a significant drop in both hardware and software sales in next week’s chart, as the holiday season comes to an end, and people return to work. Just how large the drop will be remains to be seen, but the signs aren’t encouraging.
