Today’s daily demon digest from Atlus focuses on Apsaras, who is a series staple that will make an appearance in Shin Megami Tensei V. Apsaras is a female cloud and water spirit from Hinduism and Buddhism. In Indian mythology, Apsaras are dancers to entertain gods, as well as seduce them. This aspect of Apsaras is clear in her design, both for Shin Megami Tensei V and other games in the series.
Apsaras appears to play a part in the story, whether it be the main plot or a side quest. In the video, she is the leader of a group of fanatics who pray to her and refer to her as their goddess. She explains to the Nahobino that they are in a sanctuary for demons who are unable to live on their own, and that the world they are in is one where demons can do as they please. It is not immediately clear if the story Apsaras is an ally or a villain.
Like other iterations of Apsaras, the one in Shin Megami Tensei V utilizes ice spells such as Bufu. Unfortunately, she does not show off any other abilities. In the menu, she has skills such as Mahabufu, Mahazan, and Dia, which are all techniques Apsaras has displayed in the past. The video ends with the silhouette of what seems to be Kushinada-Hime.
In total, there will be 214 videos, and Apsaras is the 73rd. Previous daily demon digests include:
- Cait Sith
- Neko Shogun
- Byakko/Bai Hu
Shin Megami Tensei V will come to the Nintendo Switch in Japan on November 11, 2021, and worldwide on November 12, 2021.
