Genshin Impact Version 2.1

Genshin Impact Version 2.1 Update Made $151 Million

miHoYo’s hit game Genshin Impact recently launched its Version 2.1 update on September 1, 2021, and already, this has made miHoYo over $151 million. In about a week’s time, miHoYo made 387% more money than the same amount of time in August. Aside from the reappearances of Scaramouche and Signora, this update also brought with it the fishing mechanic, and two new Inazuman characters. [Thanks, Sensor Tower!]

The chart compares the revenue for Genshin Impact between August 25 to 31, 2021 and September 1 to 7, 2021. Between August 25 and 31, Genshin Impact generated $31 million. However, from September 1 to 7, the game made miHoYo $151 million. So far, aside from the fishing system, this update brings with two new characters. Raiden Shogun is the limited 5-star who is currently available in the gacha, and Kujou Sara is on her banner.

However, as some Twitter users are mentioning, it is important to note the timing of the information. August 25 to 31, 2021 was the last week of the Yoimiya banner. This does not take into consideration how much money players spent trying to pull for her, as the majority of those who wanted her most likely pulled at the beginning of her banner. For reference, the Yoimiya banner started on August 10. Additionally, Version 2.1 reset the first purchase bonuses. Players can get extra Primogems the first time they recharge a set amount, which means that more players might be spending money to take advantage of the deal.

Genshin Impact is readily available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and mobile devices. A Nintendo Switch version is in development.
